voestalpine Steel Plant

About this Site

voestalpine’s Linz facility is one of the most advanced and environmentally progressive integrated steelworks in the world. The Stahlwelt exhibition centre showcases the full steel production process, from raw iron to finished high-tech components, emphasizing innovations in “greentec steel,” low-emission production, energy efficiency, and automation. On-site plant tours offer visitors a guided journey through key production units: the blast furnace, hot rolling mill, and automotive component line, illustrating large-scale metallurgical engineering, process control, and industrial logistics. The plant’s multimedia bus tours traverse a 5.2 km² facility, spotlighting state-of-the-art infrastructure within blast furnace cascades and rolling mill complexes—demonstrating how raw minerals are metallurgically transformed into complex products used globally.
